Annuant produces estimates. OPM decides what you are actually paid, and only OPM's figure is binding.
What you are getting
Annuant computes FERS and CSRS retirement figures from what you type in, following the formulas in OPM's CSRS/FERS Handbook. Any screen that shows you a number can also show the arithmetic behind it and the handbook section it came from, so you can check the work instead of trusting it.
What it is not
It is not an official OPM tool. Annuant is independent, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the Thrift Savings Plan, or any part of the U.S. Government.
Nothing in the app is financial, tax, legal, or benefits advice. Retirement dates, survivor elections, and buyout acceptances are mostly irreversible once taken, so talk to your agency's benefits officer before you act on a number you saw here.
It is also not a promise of payment. Your annuity depends on records held by your agency and by OPM — service history, deposits and redeposits, part-time hours, sick leave — that this app cannot see. If what you type in is wrong or incomplete, the figures will be wrong, and they will still look confident.
Some rules are deliberately not modelled, and the app says so on the screen where they would apply. Cost-of-living adjustments are not projected at all, so read the lifetime figures as today's money.
Paying for it
The core estimate is free and stays free. The paid features are one purchase rather than a subscription: you buy it once and keep it, with nothing to renew and nothing to cancel. The price is set in your local App Store and shown in the app before you buy.
Apple takes the payment, and the purchase is tied to your Apple Account. Restore purchase on the unlock screen brings it back on a new device. Refunds go through Apple rather than through me, at reportaproblem.apple.com — though write to me first if something is broken, because often it is a bug I can fix.
Your purchase is also governed by Apple's standard licence terms: Apple Standard End User License Agreement.
Your data
What you type in stays on your device. The privacy page sets out what is stored and what is not. I hold nothing of yours to hand over or to delete.
Liability
Annuant is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for losses arising from decisions you make using it, including when you retire, what survivor election you make, whether you accept a buyout, or when you resign. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid for the app.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
